This hand-carved nativity was created by an artisan on the island of Madagascar and is carved from a precious wood called Fanazava. Containing eight pieces, this nativity takes up very little space and is perfect for someone with space limitations or the nativity collector.
This special nativity contains nine pieces: Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, a shepherd, three wise men, a cow and a sheep. The staffs are removable for safe storage.
The Malagasy people generally carve in a detailed European style (rather than traditional African styles) because the craftsman learned their carving style from French Jesuit priests. The purchase of this nativity helps the artisan earn a living wage.
